sir,
With reference to my despatoh No.5 of the 14th January
I have the honour to report that four of the Avian land-
planes ordered by the Canton Government have now arrived.
I enclose a cutting from the South China Morning Post
giving an account of the first trial flight.
2. Mr. Vaughan Fowler tells me that the Chinese
authorities are delighted with these machines, which have
been delivered in perfect condition, and that they intend
to place orders for four more of the same type and also
for some larger British aireraft, regarding which they
have not yet decided on the make.
3.
He states that there are, at the present moment
about a hundred qualified pilots in the Canton Aviation
School and about twenty aeroplanes fit to be flown.
I have etc.,
